21 Weeks

18 more to go!
By now your baby looks like a mini-version of what she'll look like when she's born. All her facial features are formed and hair is growing on her head. She's even acting like a baby and will occasionally suck her thumb or yawn. Aww ...
Baby's heartbeat is getting stronger and can be heard using a good old-fashioned stethoscope. Ask for a listen at your next prenatal visit! By 21 weeks, fetal bone marrow starts making blood cells—previously done by the liver and spleen. This may not sound that exciting, but it's good news.
The amniotic fluid that has been cushioning your little bean now serves another purpose: Your baby uses it to "practice" chowing down. Yes, it sounds gross (as many aspects of pregnancy do), but it's an important step for your baby toward being able to chow down in the real world. Your baby has been swallowing amniotic fluid for a while now, but now the intestines are finally developed enough that she's absorbing small amounts of sugars from it. And let's face it, being able to effectively digest sugar is important at every stage of life.
Your baby now weighs between 10 and 11 ounces and is approximately 7 inches long—the size of a delicious, cold, frothy bottle of root beer. Float anyone?

17 Weeks
I am now 17 weeks! We all go December 4th to find out the sex of the baby- and check for growth and development. This time, we are taking both kids and Grandma is coming too~! A lot has changed since Gma saw a sonogram, so I thought it would be neat for her to come too! They had been in the process of hooking up the flat screen on the wall when we went for Kinsey's sono. So Im pretty excited too! I have a feeling its a little girl! We are both leaning towards wanting another boy... so I guess we will see!
Tomorrow I'm taking Ethan to visit a preschool! Im so excited for him to get started on something new and get away from Mommy a couple times a week without calling Grandma! He has done so great with potty training and that was the requirement before I could get him enrolled. Let's hope by January he is 100%.
Kinsey has a bad cold, has for a few days. Pray it goes quickly.... we don't like seeing her so miserable. Also, switching her to Ethan's rice milk has not changed anything with her constipation. So we go for her 15 month check-up December 28th and will hopefully get her allergy tested quickly after. On that note though, Ethan's has dramatically improved!!
I am on the Women of Grace events planning committee at church. We are currently planning a Christmas brunch for the women. We have NO budget and we are really in need of a few things. Please pray we can find a way to get these items donated in the next couple of weeks.

Casein Intolerance
I finally got Ethan to the dr for his second round of bloodwork. He has been diagnosed with a cow's milk protein intolerance- Casein intolerance/allergy. He was originally tested for a milk allergy, which came back negative. That particular test is done routinely and tests for lactose intolerance. We just knew that his milk was causing the problem, so we did a protein test this time instead. And it showed he definitely has an allergy to the protein in cow's milk. It can cause several symptoms, and they can get much worse if untreated.
Today I went to Walmart and Whole Foods to get all new non dairy staples. And this became a very trying and frustrating task for me. There is dairy in almost everything! I had to read so many ingredient lables... and had to read them carefully because some of them are a little tricky and do not plainly say- NON DAIRY on them like you would expect or want.
I am praying and hoping you will as well, that this can be an easy transition for our family. I am having a difficult time focussing and realizing this can be done. It is going to be a very costly diet and we really can't afford a lot of extras right now. We have full confidence God will work this out so that Ethan may be more comfortable and have a much happy life! I am also slowly going to move Kinsey to this non dairy diet as she is showing a lot of the same signs Ethan is. So just pray both kids take to the diet and we can easily stick with it.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
On another quick note, Ethan is doing GREAT with potty training! He now tells us he needs to go and hasn't peed once in his underwear. And when he needs to be in a pullup- road trips/naptime.. he never pees in it!!! Im soo grateful! My little guy is a big guy now, turning 3 in 3 more weeks!

Tubal vs Vasectomy
We are officially DONE. This will be my 3rd csection and final baby. We are just trying to decide what to do about it. Lol.
Since I am having a csection-do I just go ahead with the tubal.. while they are already in there??
Or does Devan go a few months after the baby comes and get the vasectomy so I don't put myself at a greater risk of infection, longer recovery, more pain? (all possible, not necessarily going to happen).
We are going to talk to our OB at our next visit to see what he suggests. From what I have read online, I'm still pretty confused! I have read both sides and read lots of stories from other women's experiences.
I am guessing we are just going to have to decide and go with it! So be praying we make the right choice for us!

Big Girl
We finally turned Kinsey's carseat forward facing this week!! She went to the dr last week and she was 19lbs 8oz so I figured she is close enough and most likely even closer to 20lbs now. How exciting! She just loved it! (sorry no pic, I need to get one).

The flu was definitely at our house!
I am finally feeling better!! yay! I have had the flu since Tuesday when I started getting some chest congestion and a cough. Wednesday I got a very sore stomach and went to the dr to see why it was hurting so bad. My OB didn't know... but check the baby, and we heard the heartbeat pounding away!! So we were both feeling better about that. By that night, BAM I was sick. Thursday and Friday are kind of a blurr.. I got on Tamiflu and locked myself in the basement. Devan stayed home and took care of the kids upstairs for me ;) Fortunately, nobody else got sick!!! Praise the Lord! Today I am just feeling a bit congested and still sneezing some, but feeling much better. These past few days I haven't had a chance to think about the baby, ..... but today he/she remi nded me they are there! I have my full bladder back in action ;) Thanks little one!
13 weeks now!!!! yay. I go back for my next appt on November 2oth and we will schedule my gender sono at that appt. Can't wait to find out if we have a boy or a girl in here!! then the name game will begin. And yes, we are taking suggestions!

We are alive!
Been a while! Here are a few updates on what we have been doing.
Ethan- got a viral infection of some kind last week. He woke up on Wednesday morning throwing up and very ill. He was immediately very pale white and was only throwing up yellow bile. He was not moving much at all and just slept. He slept til Friday morning pretty much. He only woke to throw up or drink his pedialyte. We took him to his pediatrician Thursday afternoon, but left with no answers and a popsicle. Sunday afternoon he was complaining that it hurt to pee and that his pee pee hurt. So I took him to minor care since it was Sunday, but he didn't have a UTI. They said it was probably irritated from peeing such consentrated pee from being so dehydrated. Its Monday morning and he seems about 100% :)
Kinsey- got an ear infection a week ago and seems to have recovered well. She is doing great all day and seems healthy. Then she decides in the middle of the night to wake often and scream until we get her. And she doesn't seem to have a thing wrong with her.... so let's hope this passes quickly!
Baby- I am 11 weeks now. Got to see the baby at 8 weeks 4 days... just a tiny thing! I go back in 2 weeks for a checkup. I am already a bit uncomfortable... can't eat as much at meals, having to pee tons, and haven't slept much in the past week. But things seem to be going well!
Devan- finished his latest project at 21st and Webb- a retirement living. And is now in Andover at Central and Andover Rd. Its another retirement living type facility and he is putting up a trailer and starting to work there this week. We are so blessed he did not get laid off with all the cuts his work made recently. We are so grateful!

10 months... a bit late!
July 26th was Kinsey's 10 months!! She went to the dr on Friday though, so I'm not too bad! :)
She is 17lbs even - 6 % and 28 3/4 inches- 68% and her head was like 14%...42 or something! lol,its in her book :)
She walks her ride on toy all over the place right now, she's even getting good about turning it around when she gets stuck- or going to the other end and pushing it the other way. She will stand for about 4-5 seconds at a time. She has taken no more then 2 steps on her own. But its only a matter of time! She finally got her first 2 teeth about 2-3 weeks ago, that was a huge relief! She says Momma, Dadda, BubbBubb, and sometimes Ki-teeeee and Steee Stee(Ethan calls Stella, our dog, Stee-Stee.
Let's see what else...
She takes 2 great naps a day, at 11 and 4. She goes to bed at almost 8 every night. She's great with a schedule! She is still wearing mostly 9 month clothes and wearing SOME 12 month for length. I think that's about it. She's so perfect and hilarious! Very precious princess :)

Gluten-free
Even though Ethan doesn't go back to the doctor for a few more weeks to be re-tested for Celiac Disease, we decided to go ahead and look into a Gluten Free diet. His behavior has not imporoved, he is still constantly tired, and he just doesn't seem to be happy as often as he should. From the few family members and friends that know him well, we have together decided it would be in his best interest to try it out on our own. In the event his tests positive this next round, he will have to have a biopsy to confirm. So to us, the best bet would be to go ahead and just see!! We would not want to put Ethan through more testing when we already know theres a strong chance he does have it.
So we could use all the support and prayers you have to make this a successful transition. He eats ok now, but not a large variety. So Im not sure how willing he will be to try new things. Pray I can be strong and patient and know this is best for my little guy. Im nervous and a little hesitant. But its definitely worth a shot!
I read heard from others and read that the results can be almost immediate, so let's pray Ethan has the same results.

Respect Conference and OKC night!
We don't have any pictures of the actual conference. The first 24 hours was really strictly spent focusing on the conference and what God had to tell us. So the pictures are all of our trip after the we left the church.

We had our first Chick Fil A after the conference!! We hadn't had it before, and it was great! So glad we stopped there while we had one near us. So then we get in the car and he attempts to drink MY shake. As usually its.... Honey if you wanted one, you should have gotten one! Haha. Well, I grabbed it back and it dumped all over his lap! Thank goodness we had just left a marriage conference! Cause we were able to laugh it off and stop so he could change.

Me driving my sleepy hubby to OKC.

Mr. Meat & Potatoe eating catfish!! and loving it! We were at Toby Keith's and had some awesome steak! We went here 3 years ago for our first anniversary!

Lovely Bricktown! Can't wait for our Riverwalk to get finished and just hope it looks half this pretty!

Night time!

When we got to OKC we pulled up at our Bricktown Hotel. We were more then disappointed. It was no where near Bricktown. And it wasn't very nice. We check our reservation and it said to cancel by 3 and well...it was 5!! We were stuck. So..we sucked it up and went in to check in to our room.
When we got in there, he said they had damage to the hotel from the storm. What storm??? He says all guests have been moved to the Sheraton. We drove to our new hotel. Its beautiful!! We are right down the block walking distance to Bricktown! We have an 11th floor awesome view. And all for $80! God is good and blessed us beyond what we could have imagined!

Lab Results
Ethan did test positive for Celiac Disease. His IGA test results were elevated. But with his bowel/intestinal issues the past few months, the dr thinks there is a chance that could trigger the positive result. So in 8 weeks we will take him in to check again! Yay, holding down a 2 1/2 year old while they stick a needle in to draw blood..... but its worth it to know he's being taken care of. Let's pray if he does truly have Celiac Disease that Mommy can stay strong and stick to a gluten free diet so Ethan can feel well again. From what I read once the gluten is removed from the diet symtoms almost immediately go away!!!
He did also show a very slight reaction to cat dander...but only mild. So for Now Toby is a safe cat. Since he spends most of his day outside and doesn't sleep in the house, Im not too worry. I just need to be sure to keep up on the dusting and vacuuming. His doctor said not to worry about it too much since it just barely registered. Ethan sure does love his cat.......

Health Updates
Well I spent yesterday and today at the doctors office! I don't plan to return until Kinsey's 10 month checkup!
First, Kinsey:
She suddenly got really hot yesterday evening while we were out to dinner and Grandma was watching her. Grandma said she just kinda fell over on her arm and fell asleep suddenly. Kinsey is a GREAT baby, but by no means does she just fall asleep in any quick fashion. So I knew she was sick ;( I checked her temp and it was 103. It stayed between 101 and 103 until today around 3. By then I wasn't sure what was going on. I had been putting it off as teething, since she still has NO teeth! Although I do know she is teething.... it was an ear infection. Her first one! Ethan still has not had any. So this is my first one too! She is beyond miserable, and I feel so helpless. She is on her antibiotics and will be better in no time! I just pray her teeth break through soon!!!
And she was 16 lbs 6oz! she gained lb! She goes back in August 7th!
Ethan:
Ethan has been battling constipation for a few months now. He will go 7-10 days between BM and then go 5 times within a couple hours... and then it starts all over again. On the day he does poop, its very heart renching. He cries so hard and it hurts him so bad. His diet is not good and he drinks way too much milk. I have stopped the milk this week, as I had NO idea it could cause Iron defiency! Yesterday he was diagnosed as having Chronic Constipation and Chronic Fatigue. Ethan sleeps 12-14 hours straight at night and takes 1-2 hour nap during the day. And he is still tired all day. He has bags under his eyes and constantly tells me he is tired.
Yesterday he had his blood taken. First we tried at the Dr office. 3 nurses plus Mommy tried to calm him and hold him still to get the needle in. They got it in, but he was sooo strong he could just barely move his elbow so the needle would lose the vein. After trying both arms with no luck they send us over to a lab. I call my In Laws and they say they will be praying things go better at the lab. When we get there and I explain what happened at the dr office to the nurse ..she starts to panic. She calls and asks what is the lowest amt she can get and it be ok. She asks any advice they can give her. I mean, theres just ONE of her!!!
She has me lay down on my back on a cot on the floor. I then have Ethan lay on my chest on his back. She says a quick prayer and then starts to sing to Ethan! She sang Jesus Loves Me! He laid with his arm as still as possible. He cried really hard don't get me wrong! but he didn't move his arm one time. Not once! When it was over I could feel God in the room with us. There was this amazing presence and it was awesome! I am the only person that was in both situations to know the true difference. And maybe it was this woman's approach that made the difference, but no matter what I know God answered our prayers! and the nurse was so humble when I thanked her and she said : " It was GOD!" .....not her that was able to make it happen. She got 6 tubes of blood from Ethan, whereas the other nurses didn't barely get 1/2 of one.
The tests were: Celiac Disease, Iron, Kansas Airborne allergens, and Food allergens. We won't know for possibly a week or two as these tests take some time to send out and get back.
Keep Ethan in your prayers as we try to get him on track! She said the constipation will as long to correct as it did to get him here. So it will be 4-6 months.

Keep Ethan in your prayers as we try to get him on track! She said the constipation will as long to correct as it did to get him here. So it will be 4-6 months.

Summer Times
I can't believe how long its been since I made a post. These kids keep me moving, I tell you what! Ethan is very dependent and very clingy. Which most of the time is super sweet!! but others, I just want a break! I will definitely try to get on and do a post more often though. Kinsey is crawling all over the house, very fast!! Check out my facebook for a video.. I will try to get one on here soon. She will be 8 months next week I can't believe it!
Thursday is Devan and I's 4 year anniversary!!! Its gone by so fast! We are going to Homewood Suites by Hilton Friday night. And Mom is keeping the kids!! It will be so nice. Kinsey hasn't stayed over night anywhere yet, so it will be new for her. I think she will be ok though.... either way... we are going!!! We need and deserve some adult time. Its going to be so fun! We get the honeymoon suite for FREE... that's right FREE. Devan was the foreman of the electricians on the job when it was being built. They loved him and said we could have a room whenever we wanted. Well... we want it!
All in all things are going great with us right now... trying to stay on track. Every day is a challenge, but we are making it through! We are definitely blessed with what we have and where we are.
Have a blessed week!

Results
Kinsey's Xrays came back normal!!! Yay! She started crawling yesterday and I was so worried having a cast would hold her back. So glad that won't be an issue now. Answer to prayer!
Sunday, April 5, 2009
Tomorrow Kinsey has her xrays on her hips. Please pray this goes quickly and Kinsey cooperates well for the dr. Here is more information on Hip Dysplasia in infants. If Kinsey does have this, we pray she can be healed quickly.

6 month checkup
Sissy went to the dr today! she is doing great.
weight- 14lbs 9oz 17%
height- 26 inches 56%
head - 41 1/2 cm 20.25%
She did have some concern for her hips. While on her back her hips are not even. So Monday Kinsey goes in to get an xray to see if she has Hip Dysplasia or something else making her off. So I will have an update sometime next week. Otherwise, she need to work on sitting up! Which could be delayed from her hips. She is up and rocking ready to crawl, she can pull herself around pretty good! She is definitely a tummy baby and on the move!

Used to be...
I am missing who I used to be. I was confident, self sufficient, independent, thin!, and fun. Now I am just a boring housewife that has no motivation to lose weight or have any fun. I do love family time, but outside of that I don't have much of a life. I don't go tanning anymore or get my nails done. And although those things are materialistic and superficial I really enjoyed them and they really made me feel good about myself. I have been working really hard on the relationships in my life, but they too seem to be suffereing. Physically and emotionally I am in quite a rut! But I have no drive to change. How do you get that push you need, when you need it??

Our Kiddos
My sweet boy!

Ethan is my heart. He is 2 now and quite a handful!!! But I just love him so much. He just spent this past week with his Uncle Brandon and Aunt Shelly. He had such a great time, and was a good boy! I was very lucky to have him right back on schedule last night and today. He has grown up so much. He actually listens and understands me now. He knows so many words and just loves to talk.
Sissy has been trying to crawl, she kicks her foot straight up in the air.... she isn't quite sure how to make it do what she wants yet!! lol.
Kinsey is getting so big and so active!! She is the happiest baby ever! She is just so fun, and has the biggest blue eyes. We just adore her ;) She is starting to lift her belly off the floor and rest on all fours for a few seconds. She is pushing herself backwards on her tummy and in circles! She gets so mad because her toys are going the wrong way!! She is super long... I'd say a good 26-27 inches. I can't wait until her 6month appt this month to find out how big she is.
Kinsey now prefers baby food over bottles! I can't get her to lay down and take a full bottle unless its naptime or bedtime. She just loves to eat! She can eat an entire stage 2 jar of food mixed with 1-2 tbsp of cereal. You wouldn't guess it by how skinny she is!
We are super blessed with these two and we loves them to pieces!!

Aunt Shelly
Ethan is doing great learning new words every day. His new words he likes to say super fast like its a story are "Dego, Dori, Backpack, A-Map, Sissy, B-Toe(toby), A-Momma, A-Daddy...." He just rambles through them its soo cute! He says no super cute now too. He says " No-oooo" I should get a video.. its hard to type what he says. He is huge now. He can down a container of yogurt in 2 seconds flat. He loves to go "side" outside with the dogs. He refuses to call Riley by his name but instead calls him Doe Dog. And calls Stella- Stee Stee. He sleeps on the floor even though we bought him a nice Firetruck bed. He sleeps 12 straight hours at night now... but still takes a 1 1/2 hour nap at noon every day. He thinks my new laptop is his.
Kinsey is 5 months next week. She's around 13 lbs now most likely. She is super long but looks ridiculous in 3-6 month pants. They are almost too short, but are 3 sizes too big on her waste. She has the most contagious laugh! She is definitely a Daddy's girl!! She just laughs and laughs at him. She puts her little hands together up to her mouth and just laughs so hard and squeels at him! Very precious! She doesn't try to sit. Doesn't try to crawl. BUT she can eat a whole jar of stage 2 foods in couple minutes! She sleeps 7-8 hours straight at night! She is just the best baby ever!!
Hope this will hold you over until I can figure out how to do video... may have to ask around!!

Update
Kinsey's adhesion seperated this afternoon!!!!!! What an answer to prayer!! And a fast one. The estrogen cream was supposed to take up to 2 weeks to help seperate the skin. And it was going to cost $100 for a small tube of it. I couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money. So I looked up alternatives and found out I could try Desitin or Hydrocorizone cream. I tried the Desitin, and Poof!!! it seperated by her next diaper change! I was in shock!!!!!!!!! Praise God!

Kinsey's 4 months!!!
Well, she didn't get as big as I thought:
weight 12lbs 3oz= 16%
height 25 1/4 inches = 83%
head 39 1/2 cm = 15%
She rolls both ways over and over.
Eats 2-3 tbsp of cereal twice a day. Drinks 4-5 oz every 3-4 hours. She sleeps 6-8 hours at night.
She's doing great! She is so smiley and happy! We are very blessed! She did have something wrong with her woman parts though. They gave me a prescription for estrogen to rub on her twice a day because it has sealed off?? Its called a Labia Adhesion, there is a thin layer of skin where the opening should be. Basically it needs to pop open. She said its common. It will take about 2 weeks to open though. And she said to just watch for it to happen again, because it could. She said, good luck getting the cream on her! So we'll see!
Other then that she is just a very long and skinny healthy little girl :) We love her and are very blessed!!!

loving her exercauser

Kinz & Momma

Kinz being her happy self!

She rolls both ways and all over the room! We can't put her down for 2 seconds without her immediately rolling side over side! She's a mover! She isn't even 4 months yet! Ethan didn't roll to his back until 4 months and then to his tummy at 5 months!

too cute!

She has tried cereal and some baby food. She likes them and is doing much better at actually getting them in her mouth and not all over herself!
